The latest from Caleb's world...which is rapidly expanding!

Well, I've discovered something...I don't really so much like blogging (you could probably tell from the 4-6 week gap in entries!). I do, however, like for people who don't have Facebook to be able to see what's going on with us and especially with Caleb, so here's another quick update, with lots of pictures!

This past weekend, for Caleb's first Memorial Day, we took a road trip up to Camden Hills State Park, a neat park on the mid-coast of Maine, where we lived when we were first married. We wanted to take Caleb around to some of our old haunts and enjoy nature. We came back much refreshed, although we're still not sleeping as much as we would like!

These pics are from Lincolnville Beach - we saw all kinds of hermit crabs and periwinkles making trails in the sand at low tide. Caleb really likes the feeling of sand on his teeny toes.

We attempted a touristy visit to the new-ish bridge from Prospect to Verona Island, but the elevator broke just as we arrived. Thankfully we weren't stuck in the broken elevator at the top like some other tourists!

Some shots from our campsite and expeditions - Caleb helping Daddy tend the fire, checking out a waterfall in Camden (obviously not that exciting to Caleb since he's almost asleep in the carrier)...

Peek-a-boo! My first campfire!

This is atop Mt. Battie...we hiked up with the stroller and had a lovely picnic at the top (Caleb likes to chew on kiwis) and saw this lady slipper on our way down - a rare treat!

Eating at the picnic table like a big kid and napping with Mama in the tent...so relaxing!

Off-roading...

Caleb's first experience with dirt...he absolutely loves it. We can't keep him out of the plant pots now that we're home. He zonked on the way home in his carseat...but not without fussing for a few hours first!

Other highlights from the past few weeks:

Reading his truck book while he waits for dinner...

His big boy 7 and 8 months old pictures; modeling his new suit coat, carrot stick in hand...

Playing lego with Daddy (gotta start 'em young) and helping make his baby food...

Dad's toes - this kid will teethe on just about anything. This is the Mother's Day spread that I awoke to! Lovely. Most of the flowers are from our yard or the side of the road in our neighborhood. It's a blessing to live in a lovely place with flowers!

This pic just screams, "I'm so cute!". And here he is exploring the wonders of dandelions...too bad Daddy isn't so impressed with them.

A beautiful blossom on the magnolia tree that we have in memory of Jonathan's Gram Risser who passed away in April...and tulips in our flower bed.

Still loving the tub!

These are all from Caleb's first visit to our favorite little Rockport beach, Old Garden - he wasn't sure what to make of it but adjusted quickly and loved it! All these firsts are so precious!

First stay in a hotel, up in Bangor, when Nana had her hip surgery...

PRUNES!!!!

Deep in thought, even while I'm sleeping...

Trying to help with Easter Eggs...and typing out a few emails!

Big grins for Grampy at our Easter visit...

Playing on the lawn in my cool shades, and hanging out with Jake and Josh, my buddies.

A little clip of Caleb banging toys together, his favorite way to explore at the moment. He's going to be crawling any day now, and we're in big trouble then! We are really enjoying nicer weather with him. I (Mel) am enjoying part-time Early Intervention work and Jonathan continues to do odd jobs here and there and look around for a permanent place to be. Happy summer to all!
