Happy New Year!

We really enjoyed Caleb's first Christmas. It was a lot of traveling and he didn't sleep very well with all the excitement, but the extra family time was great.

We traveled to Nova Scotia before Christmas - it was Caleb's first time in Yarmouth, his Dad's hometown. He also met his Opa (Jonathan's dad) for the first time, as well as his Aunt JoAnn, her husband Jeremy, and his only first cousins - Taylor, Morgan and Rachel. He loves everyone and had a lot of fun, as you can see!




































We left Canada on the 23rd and after a rough ferry ride, we arrived in Houlton for Christmas Eve dinner with Maine family and Christmas day. Caleb did a great job! He loved all the ribbons and there was so much to see. He sat in his little sled and took it all in. Later, Jonathan took the sled for a test run in the Houlton snow.





















We were blessed with lots of family time, wonderful food, and lovely gifts.






























Caleb filled our family's homes with laughter and we made some wonderful first Christmas memories. We are so excited for all we will experience as a family in the new year, Caleb's first full year. Happy New Year, everyone!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

We are keeping busy here at the Corey-Knock house with holiday fun... We have been to a few parties. Caleb seems to like parties...there is always a lot to see and experience, like new people and crinkly wrapping paper. At our Sunday small group party, we had a "junk" swap (like a yankee swap but with used items that you just don't want anymore) and we actually got two pretty decent gifts - a teapot and a set of wrenches. At my Monday night ladies' Christmas party, he mostly just slept, missing out on a lot of great food! And today he came with me to my Early Intervention Christmas party...several other staff with their new babies were there as well, and he was the oldest of all the babies. Such a big man!


Last night, our friends Melanie and Josh came over, and we made gingerbread houses. Caleb was not all that impressed...hopefully, he will like this kind of thing more as he grows older (and grows in his appreciation of frosting and candy).


We also opened Caleb's gifts from Aunty and Catheine this past weekend, the most notable of which is a 5-foot tall stuffed giraffe! Pretty cool. Caleb and Dad both enjoyed playing with it.


We continue to work on sleeping - well, Jonathan and I work on it. Caleb just laughs at our attempts. I am buying a new sleep book to read on our Christmas trip while other people take turns holding him and hoping some good sleep will be Caleb's Christmas gift to us.

Caleb's first snow!

We are so excited for Caleb's whole first December, to share old traditions of our families with him and to make some new traditions too. 

This week Jonathan and Caleb had fun "walking" around...Caleb likes to think he is a big boy. 

 

We went to the Rockport tree lighting (Caleb is in that big bundle his dad is holding). Then Helen came over and gave him a Christmas gift...he really likes Helen (even if she doesn't give him gifts!). 

 Then yesterday we woke up to something exciting - Caleb's first snow! Big light fluffy flakes that fell all days and made everything really beautiful. Here he is trying to catch them on his tongue. And he made his first snow angel!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Last week we celebrated Caleb's first Thanksgiving. Nana and Grampy were so excited to see him. They took lots of turns holding, bouncing, wearing him in his sling, singing and getting big smiles.

 

We had dinner at Aunty and Catherine'shouse, and it was the first meal with the table and chairs that Jonathan made for them. Caleb is very impressed with his dad's talent, but he slept through the whole meal. 

 

   

We decorated our Christmas tree and Caleb loves to look at the lights. 

We took a little shopping trip to Babies R'Us where Caleb tried on a snowman bunting...he was not impressed.

He also had his first professional pictures taken but we'll be posting those after Christmas as they are being used as gifts and we want them to be a surprise - but trust us, they're gorgeous! 

On Saturday, we had a bit of an early Christmas with Rochelle and Catherine, as they will be in Ireland for Christmas. It was nice to start celebrating early! 

On Sunday, we enjoyed the first Advent service of the season at church...it's hard to believe Caleb's first December is here already.  He's still pretty colicky, but when he's having a good moment, his grin lights up the whole room. He is so strong and is cooing and "talking" lots now - when he's hungry, it sounds like he says, "Mama" - or maybe that's just what I like to think!

Sooooo big!

We can't believe how much Caleb is growing and changing each day. It sounds cliche, but it's true! He had his two month check up, and he's now 24" and over 11 pounds - he's a two-footer! He's quite long and lanky. It's gotten really cold now, so we are staying in more and playing with toys and books. Caleb discovered the mobile above his swing. He has a mobile above his play mat and it winds up and plays music; as soon as the music and movement stops, Caleb fusses; when we wind it up again, he has a big grin to thank us! He's also able to discover and chew on his hands more and more, and it's nice to see him able to pacify himself a bit.

We had a little Christmas card photo shoot - Caleb is too squirmy to get many good shots without a professional camera, but we got some nice face shots. And he loves his Santa hat - he's been a very good boy so far this year. We ordered his Christmas stocking so we'll be all ready for the big day.

He also helped his mom with the Christmas shoebox collection at church!

We went to have a game night with our friends Lisa and Jeff - their little guy Levi is just a few weeks younger than Caleb, and they're destined to be buddies! Here Caleb is trying to comfort Levi, who wasn't so impressed at having to share his swing.

Sleep continues to be very important...with Jonathan home for a few weeks, we have been working on getting Caleb into a better sleep routine, which makes everyone happier!
